What we can document, and what we cannot yet
Compliance pages on factory websites tend to be a wall of logos. This one is a list of what actually exists today, what is being confirmed with suppliers, and where a project will need its own testing or documentation.
Board emissions
The boards we buy carry the emission declarations of their manufacturers. What matters for an Australian project is not the label on a marketing page but the actual declaration for the specific board and batch. We request the declaration for the board being supplied and pass it through with the shipment documentation.
Where a project requires a specific declared level, quote that requirement in the enquiry. If the board we would normally use does not meet it, we will say so before quoting rather than substituting quietly.
Adhesives and finishes
Edge banding adhesive and veneer adhesive are specified to suit the substrate and the environment the panel will live in. In wet areas the priority is a sealed, durable bond; in living areas the priority is a clean edge line. We do not claim a product is free of a substance it contains.
Documentation for Australian projects
Documentation travels with the shipment: packing plan, panel schedule, finishes schedule and the supplier declarations we have been able to obtain. Where a project's building surveyor or certifier needs a form we cannot complete from the factory, we will tell you which part of that process sits with the importer or the installer, so it is not discovered at handover.
Compliance status
- Panel formaldehyde rating
- E0 (AS/NZS 1859.1) · Japan F☆☆☆☆ / JIS A 1460
- Board emission declaration and test report
- Supplied with shipment documentation, including batch test values
- Certification numbers
- To be confirmed
- Country of manufacture
- People's Republic of China
- Project-specific testing
- Available on request at the buyer's cost
The formaldehyde rating above is stated by the board manufacturer and applies to the board we buy. Certificate numbers and batch test values are issued with the shipment documentation — we do not publish a figure we cannot show.
Frequently asked
- Can you provide a Formaldehyde declaration for our certifier?
- We can pass through the board manufacturer's declaration for the board supplied. Where your certifier requires testing by an Australian-recognised laboratory on the finished panel, that testing is arranged separately and quoted on request.
- You list both E0 and Japan's F☆☆☆☆ — which one applies?
- Both, and they use the same test — the desiccator method — so the two figures are directly comparable; the difference is in the limit. E0 is the AS/NZS 1859.1 rating at 0.5 mg/L, and that is the one Australian certifiers check. F☆☆☆☆ is the top grade under Japan's JIS A 1460 at 0.3 mg/L, the stricter of the two. We list the Japanese grade because it is tighter than the Australian requirement; for your certifier, the AS/NZS rating is what we supply.
- Are your panels treated timber for building code purposes?
- No. Cabinet panels are not structural or treated timber, and should not be presented as such in a compliance submission. If a project's approval depends on that, it needs a different product, and we would rather say so at enquiry stage.
